ASL Brings Home Cup for Food Drive

This year, Appalachian School of Law participated in its first-ever Legal Food Frenzy, and won both law school categories. 

This year marks the 16th Legal Food Frenzy in Virginia — a friendly competition among law firms, law schools, and other legal professionals in an effort to stock foodbanks and feed families in need.  This year’s Legal Food Frenzy was sponsored by Feeding Southwest Virginia, The Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association, The Federation of Virginia Food Banks, and the Attorney General of Virginia.  The statewide effort provided over a million meals to families in need.  Approximately a quarter-million meals will be served to families in need across Southwest Virginia.

Appalachian School of Law rising 3L student Bradleigh (Laken) Shuler spearheaded ASL’s efforts to raise more money and donate more food than any other law school in the Commonwealth. 

“As a Southwest Virginia native,” Ms. Shuler said, “I understand the importance of campaigns such as Legal Food Frenzy because I understand the severity of the hunger issue that our region faces.  Through our efforts, we helped Feeding Southwest Virginia provide over 10,000 meals to people in need!”

Appalachian School of Law is proud to be a part of Southwest Virginia, it is even more proud to raise up students who zealously care for their communities.
